Imran Khan’s Protest in Faisalabad

A peaceful protest took place in Faisalabad on Monday to protest against election rigging. Imran Khan with his party workers led the protest and joined them at different locations of the city. It was the first city in which they carried out complete shout down protest. Most of the traders, shop keepers and transporters etc cooperated with the shut down call and according to media reports almost all the major markets schools and outlets were closed.

Since morning the workers of PTI and other supporters gathered on major points of the city and started protesting by chanting anti-government slogans. They were exercising their constitutional and legal right and there was no point in stopping them but suddenly an armed person allegedly belonging to the ruling party opened fire killing one person and wounding several others.

This tragic incident aggravated the situation and people came out of their houses and started protesting all over the city. The whole city got paralyzed due to this sad event. The main point here is that every thing took place in front of the police and it did not took any action. The man who fired is the gunman of son-in-law of a Rana SanaUllah, who was minister of law of the present provincial government.

he was sacked when several people were killed of PAT in Lahore a couple of months back. The said ex-minister denies any connection with the miscreant but in a video footage the same person is standing beside him which cannot be denied. This is very sad that a minister level person is telling lies in front of the whole country without any shame or fear.

The news of this tragic event spread like a wild fire and soon major roads and points of all the cities of Pakistan were blocked by the PTI protesters. Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Multan, Peshawar, Rahim Yar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Jhelum and several other cities were blocked. At one time it felt like there was no government in the country and whole the state was taken over by angry mob.
